First ever cricket match for the staff at Turner Peachey.
The staff and Partners took to the cricket pitch in their first ever outing on Thursday 12th August. Our opponents and hosts were the Old Oswestrians (also known as The Rough and Tumbles).
On a pleasant but increasingly chilly evening The Old Oswestrians batted first and managed to rack up 134-9 in their 15, 8 ball overs. Jon Ollier opened the bowling and showed the way with a fine 3 wickets for 25 runs. Oliver Broomhall chipped in with 2 for 21.
The wicket was green and slow and our top order batters struggled to adapt to the slow wicket. Oliver Broomhall held the middle of the innings together with a steady 14 before Man of the match Jon Ollier took to the crease in fading light to add a quick fire 24 to push our total onto 77 all out.
Although we lost by 57 runs it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and our thanks go to our opponents and Oswestry School for allowing us to use their wicket.
